Tears took over

Tears streamed down my face as the dam burst. Finally letting go of all the anguish and fury I had been holding within, I slumped over the sink and sobbed uncontrollably. Tears were both freeing and draining. They poured freely in this tiny restroom because I had suppressed them for so long. Every cry symbolized a moment of suffering, a sliver of self-respect lost to Sandra’s harsh remarks.

But as the minutes passed, a growing rage replaced the melancholy. It was enough. I’m done holding back and biting my tongue. I didn’t let Sandra win since she had tested my limits. I stood up and took a big breath once my tears dried and a new resolution solidified within of me. Staring back at me, the reflection had changed from one of defeat to one of resolve.
